I completely finished this ship today along with making the Shelf for it that is above my desk in the living room. It’s a perfect place for it.
Anyway, I made this video for it.
Well I’m working on the Stand.
This is the last process for finishing up. Although I should take care of one more matter before officially declaring this ship finished. I need to order some”White” Water Decals so that I can make some for the Stern where I messed up on it.
I’m making these Rolled Up Rope that goes along the Pin and Fife Rails.
I’m at the point now where I have to begin thinking about those dreaded Water Decals. I made these test boards to practice transferring them over.
I realize that these are going to be the last of these Sheets that are going underneath the Pin Rail and around the Belaying Pins.
I’m telling you, it was really challenging to simply get the Line underneath the Pinrail, much less the correct ones! I don’t know how some of these guys do it! I mean… It took me like about 20 minutes worth of fishing to get this last one. Which went into the perfect position by the way. I use my Hook Tool that I made.
So, here’s the last of the stays . I have them cut to this length to indicate that they’re done. From the Starboard side…
As you can see, I screwed up on some of them, but it’s not like anybody would ever notice.
All the sheets coming down.
From the Port Side…
This is before I put all the Rolled up line on the Pinrails.
Well… This is it! Main Royal Sail, which is the last Sail to go up.
Finally. It’s been a little long journey and I’m beginning to experience melancholy about finishing. But, finish I must.
Getting ready to attach it to Mast…
Attached it all right.
I’m up to the Main Top Gallant Sail. Interesting thing is that the Stays for this Sail come down to the Pin Rails on the Bulwark
All the Stays come down here.
I still have to put the rolled up line on the Belaying Pins.
I just saw somebody post this in a random post in one of my Model Ship Groups. I thought it was great!
I made these chorded up Rope to simulate the Stays being tied off into the Belaying Pins on the Pinrails.
I made this little jig for making these Ropes.
Then I tie the line around it and tie it off.
Would you believe I only just have enough of this color string to make a couple more of these Chorded Ropes?
