Anchor Windlass

Parts for Windlass

I cannot believe that Artesania Latina only provided these pieces for the Windlass.

The middle piece has a Figurehead carved on top of it… So I guess AL assumes that I’m good at carving??? ..

I’ll give it a good try though! ..

🤔🙄😲🎉👍

Here’s the diagram

Glued a piece of Manzonia Dowel in the middle

I put a little piece of Manzonia Dowel in the center to simulate the Rachet gear.

Windlass Pawl

I simulated the hole in the middle with some black ink.

Primed and Painting

I have some Martha Steward Craft Paint. The color is Tartan Red. Looks like I’ll need a few coats.

Anchor Cheek

I have been looking all over for the proper names for these Timbers you put along the forward Hull of the Ship in order to protect it from the Anchor when it is being secured alongside the ship.

Until I find it, I’ll just call it Anchor Timber ..

The way I made them was to glue the pieces of wood onto an Address Label that I cut into shape.

My kit doesn’t call for it but I like the look of it so decided to put them in.
