I’m starting the building of all the Boom and Gaffs. There are 4 of them to build. I cut out the Patterns and used a 2x7mm Tanganika Board.
I use both my Belt Sander and the Dremel Sander and my small Grinder to shape it.
I just thought That painting the guy friends black looked cool… I’m sure that they must have done it before in history.
I went ahead and made the Stunsail and lashed it to the Yard.
The Iron for the end, I simply made it with some Wire.
Just installed the Topping Lifts for the Boom. This is the one that gives the Boom upward support.
Line Bundle using my Line Bundle Coiling Tool.
I got the Gaff Rig Boom in. I also strung the Ensign Halliard to support it. Since I have no Sails on this rig.
Today I’ve been working on the Boom Jaws for the Spanker Boom.
The one that came with the kit didn’t look as authentic as the real ones so I made some out of some Walnut Stock I had.
I use DAP Weldwood Cement and Super glue to attach it…
I needed to get the Boom and Gaff of the Spanker done so that I’m not forced to do this later on in tight quarters
I used a 4mm Dowel and I used my Lathe to sand it down to 2mm… Plus a 5mm Tip on the end.
That’s where a bunch of Running tackle will be tied.
