The way I made these was to first dip a 1/4″ Dowel in some Wood Hardener. I then drilled into the center of it. Once I got it wide enough, I stuck a Skewer into it in order to support it and I chopped it with my Saw.

Barrels
Main Mast Bitts
Carved out the Bitts that go under the Main Mast. I needed to install these before everything else because it will determine where all the pieces lie.
I always install little nails on the base for added stability.
Capstan
Steering Gear
I ended up scratch-building the parts for the Ship’s Wheel like the base and Pedestals, although the Wheel itself was provided by the kit…
Tiller
I decided to make an enclosure that goes over the Tiller that controls the Rudder.
Finished painting the Tiller and Enclosure.
The Instructions call for the Tiller to be open, but I’m including an Enclosure.
Taffrail
Before I could get started on the Quarterdeck and Poop Deck, I realized I should finish the Taffrail.
I painted it the same Tartan Red
I then included the Flag Pole Post and the Cleats. I superglued Nails underneath the Cleats and I used my parallel grip pliers to simply push them in and used CA glue to hold it.
I haven’t glued the Poop Deck Grates yet because I have to install a bunch of other things!
Grates
I’m very annoyed because Artesania Latina short-changed me on the Grating Materials. I had to scrounge around and I found some in a different kit.
Midship Bulkhead
I had some bleed over from the Primer. I was able to scrape most of it off, but I put the Runner across the Deck to hide it.
The instructions didn’t call for them, but I’m going to install a couple of Hatches on the Bulkhead for the Crew to enter and exit.
Ship’s Bell and Belfry
I just realized that I needed to install the Ship’s Bell Housing before installing the Anchor Windlass.
Took me forever to carve this out!
I was trying to install it and as I was pressing down on it, the darn thing broke on me so I had to reglue it and repaint.
