I was at the point where I couldn’t go any further without laying the Keel and Prow.
I used the White Glue for this.
I realized that the Keel had a bend in it. So I notched the False Keel so that the Garboard Planks lay inside the he Keel.
I’m hoping the difference is negligible. .. 🤔🙄👍
It’s been a few days while I contemplated how I was going to do the Keel.
I think that I’m ready to install the Stem and the Keel.
I thought I was going to need some Putty for the Prow, but it was probably unnecessary. Hmmm…
I tested the first Keel out and it looked like it was going to fit perfectly.
This is one time that I wish I had a couple more of these DeWalt Clamps.
I got the entire Keel glued on. So far, so good. I was a bit worried about how it was going to turn out but I’m pretty happy with it.
While sanding the Stern section of the Keel, I took advantage of the Sawdust that I was sanding off… I moved them over to where this gap was on the Keel and I filled it with both the Sawdust and White Titebond Glue.
I guess that mixture of Glue and Sawdust is the age old standby for Putty.
Just finished gluing these 2 4x4mm Crossbars. Took me a bit to get them aligned up.
It’s for supporting the Main Deck.
I found that I had to put this Deck on in order to line it up. I guess this is just from experience that I didn’t want to glue the Frames to the Keel before making sure it fits the Slots on the Deck and it lines up!
This is the problem right away.
I’m having to use my Dremel to widen each slot. I started off by marking it with a pencil but I’ve already progressed to eyeballing it.
I’m using the Keel holder that I made for HMS Surprise which is currently on hold.
In the process of fitting the Bulkheads, I encounter a problem right away. The slots aren’t wide enough so I have to file them out a bit. I’m going to use a hand file before attempting to use my Dremel.
